It doesn’t have all the API’s needed and it’s missing a good chunk of the functionality we believe it needs, but we’re getting so many requests for the Chrome extension that we’re going to make this available sooner than we originally planned.

To install the extension you can use the link given below.

To install the extension, click here using Google Chrome.

The Features include sync’ ing, getting the nook mark from the chrome’s omnibar, and bookmarking your favorite website with click of a single button.

You can sync your Delicious bookmarks in Google Chrome using the add-on. All you need to do is just login to Delicious and all of your Delicious bookmarks are there!

How to: Make your Linux with Gnome look cooler than Windows 7

February 18th, 2010 oDx No comments

The first reason for any normal computer user to use Windows 7 is its cooler look and faster performance. Extended support for themes, desktop gadgets, sidebar etc are helping windows 7 to look nice. The people who uses linux for every day use is increasing day by day, but still its not even close to the numbers of windows users. The main reason is being the ugly user interface, which is not the truth but what most people think.

Now in a KDE desktop, for example Kubuntu, all these effects which windows 7 boasts to have, are there. But what about the Gnome Lovers, so thats why I am writing this blog post today. Gnome can be made lot more cooler than even windows 7 with the use of some tools. Cairo-Dock/Glx-Dock is on of this kind application.

With Cairo Dock we can make the Gnome desktop look like anything we want. The best feature of this cairo-dock is, it is customizable to very high extend. Cairo-Dock is a bar to launch applications hosted (or dock, to the way Mac OS X) incorporating in its latest versions, management of plugins as desklets (or widgets) directly displayed on the desktop of user icons such “interactive”. Incorporated by Fabrice Rey (aka Fabounet) and developed on Ubuntu (also works on other distributions and desktop environments Linux in 32 or 64 bit) it allows quick launching favorite applications directly from the user’s desktop.  A manager of transparency as Compiz Fusion, Beryl, Compiz or Metacity associated with xcompmgr is necessary.  The dock also works under XFCE (with the composite manager xfwm4 or Compiz), and normally with KDE since Kwin manages the composition display.

You can find the installation instruction HERE. Information for Ubuntu Users are available HERE.

PS: If you are experiencing any issues after the install, just right click and quit the application and then launch it by using the -c switch. like cairo-dock -c.

Also if you are using Radeon cards, you may want to add the boot parameter radeon.modeset=1.

If you got any doubts ask me, through he comments. Here are some desktops which uses Cairo-Dock.

At last Sony Playstation 3 Hacked – Geohot Releases PS3 exploit to the public

January 27th, 2010 oDx No comments

The man behind the iPhone JailBreak has come up with a new HACK. And now its for Sony Playstation 3. Some days earlier he posted a blog entry about the hacking of the playstation. Now today he released the exploit to the public. As of now for a normal person, i think its not easy to use this exploit. But there will be easy to use kits in no time as, homebrew developers will find new ways to run custom code on the PS3.

Geohot Said in his blog,

In the interest of openness, I’ve decided to release the exploit. Hopefully, this will ignite the PS3 scene, and you will organize and figure out how to use this to do practical things, like the iPhone when jailbreaks were first released. I have a life to get back to and can’t keep working on this all day and night.

How to open Magnet links From FireFox

January 19th, 2010 oDx No comments

If you have tried in most of the cases the magnet links will not open if we just click on the link torrent sites provide. It just throws some error. But not anymore. now after reading this article you will be able to click the magnet link and firefox will open your favourite torrent client and start download.

For Windows:

Open NotePad and type the following in it:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\magnet]
@="URL:magnet Protocol"
"URL Protocol"=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\magnet\shell]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\magnet\shell\open]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\foo\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files\\Application\\program.exe\" \"%1\""

Replace  C:\\Program Files\\Application\\program.exe with the program you want to run. Note that backslashes must be doubled and the additional slashes and quotes before the path must not be removed. Save the file something as “name.reg”, then double-click it to insert into the Windows registry.

For Linux:

Type about:config into the address bar and press Enter.
Right-click -> New -> Boolean -> Name: network.protocol-handler.external.magnet -> Value -> true
Right-click -> New -> String -> Name: network.protocol-handler.app.magnet -> Value -> /usr/sbin/azureus
Ensure network.protocol-handler.expose-all is set to true. (mine was already)

Make sure you have the right path to azureus (it might be something like /usr/sbin/azureus if the standard repo’s are used perhaps?)

To check it ->  System -> Preferences -> Menu Layout
Then use the left panel to navigate to the internet menu, then right clicked azureus and chose properties. this shows the path to the executable.

Thats it. Now all Magnet links will open in the particular torrent client( if the torrent client supports the openingof magnet links like this.).

I think qBittorrent does not support this kind of opening. But of course it supports Magnet Links.
