false Positive from CA

I think this month is the worst for security researchers. AVG,McAfee and now CA, of which CA being the last one who comes up with a false positiv4es. As of all this CA also detects windows system files as some viruses. This is a bad news and for the same reason the users of CA are a little more that upset.

From Thursday onwards the CA users are complaining, after the company’s anti-virus software mistakenly identified a Windows XP systems file as a virus. Also the software is said to be detecting the service pack 3 for Win XP and the files fom the commercial CygWin application.

The CA advisory reads:

“CA Internet Security Suite users should restore affected files from quarantine using the GUI. CA Threat Manager customers should search local hard drives for files with the extension .AVB and manually rename to their original file extension by removing the appended text on the original file name.”

The CA is offering a tool for restoring these effected files through its customer care service.
