UPDATE:After some delay and wait the Nokia N900 is finally shipping today in select markets such as Europe, Middle-East, Russia and North America. As preorders are being shipped now , the retail price of the n900 is expected to be around 500 euros or Rs.35000 approx before taxes.

Nokia has today announced the highly anticipated N900 (aka Rover, RX-51) Maemo 5 handset.

The first thing to be noticed is the resolution. The resolution of this Mobiles display is 800×480, hard to find for a 3.5 display.

Then the processing power, this comes with a 600MHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor. Thats way ahead of its kind.

This will turn up the heat on Apple for sure.

The press release boldly states that the device is “designed for computer-grade performance in a compact size” with the help of Linux-based Maemo 5 OS, browser based on Mozilla technology, Adobe Flash 9.4 support and last but definitely not least 1 gigabyte of application memory (256MB RAM and 768MB virtual memory). Yet they call this a phone. :D
