Nokia offers to exchange Dodgy chargers

November 9th, 2009 oDx No comments

Nokia has started a charger exchange program, offering free replacements to anyone with a potentially dodgy charger.

Nokia recently found out a problem with their chargers with potentially shocking results. The problem apparently is that the plastic cover comes loose exposing the internal components.

Affected units include the AC-3E and AC-3U models, manufactured between 15 June and 9 August, and the AC-4U model, manufactured between 13 April and 25 October.

Theregister Reported.

Although Nokia branded, the chargers are manufactured by one of its third-party suppliers and it is thought that around 14 million units are in service.

Nokia has set up a dedicated website for those who wish to see if they need to send off for a new charger.

Search Google by Voice – Comes to Nokia S60

November 3rd, 2009 oDx No comments

You’re a Person who  usually search something in google using your Nokia phone, then this is a good news for you. Because now google developed an application which comes with Google Apps for mobile by which we can tell our mobile to search something.

The best thing about this is, Google voice search is location aware, so that you can just give queries in your native language. Also it is not limited to simple search queries.

Google India Blog says,

Downloading the Google Mobile App places a shortcut to Google search on your Nokia phone’s home screen. It’s now fast and easy to search for anything on the Internet. Holding down the call button activates voice search so you can speak your query. Search by voice is not limited to simple queries. Try complex queries like — “pictures of gateway of India”, “what is the length of a cricket pitch”, or even something very Indian like “makki ki roti and sarson ka saag recipe”.

You can also type queries quickly thanks to Google Suggest, which provides search suggestions for common queries. You can search for anything — from “kebab corner” to “coffee shop”.
Whether you’re in Bangalore or Gurgaon, you can turn on the My Location feature to give you the most relevant results nearby.
Check out the video to see search by voice and other cool features in action.

Nokia N97 mini now available in stores
Nokia Launches their newest touch screen mobile with Qwerty keyboard.
Nokia N97 mini makes its big debut in stores. With its stainless steel cues, the Nokia N97 mini is designed for style-conscious people who are active with social networks. The device features a tilting 3.2″ touch display, QWERTY keyboard and fully customizable homescreen. The Nokia N97 mini features same software with the Nokia N97 and will be in stores with an estimated retail price of EUR 450 before taxes and subsidies.
Nokia’s Press said.
Well the prize of the mobile is never expected to be like this. The normal n97 have 32GB memory while this mini version is having only 8 GB. Now I really doubt why one  will go for this mini version instead of the normal one. At least its having more memory.
