As all of you might be knowing Google has launched their own DNS service. And it is public. So that all of us can use it legally.Read the Google blog post about this here.
For all who don’t know what is DNS, google explains it,
Most of us aren’t familiar with DNS because it’s often handled automatically by our Internet Service Provider (ISP), but it provides an essential function for the web. You could think of it as the switchboard of the Internet, converting easy-to-remember domain names — e.g., www.google.com — into the unique Internet Protocol (IP) numbers — e.g., 74.125.45.100 — that computers use to communicate with one another.
An average internet user will bedoing 100s of DNS queries everyday. So if the DNS server you are using is slow or down because of some problems, it will directly effect your surfing speed. Since google is a company we can trust, we can use their services.
There are lots of other pulic DNS services which are very efficient. OpenDNS.org is a nice example for this. You can use this service also.
Using these DNS services will help you to find out the pages if they are contnaing malwares or if they are phishing pages. So this helps you to stay safe also.
